Other Ergonomic Habits
Practice good ergonomic habits: make sure your desk and chair are at optimum heights for work safety, and if not, adjust them. That alone can make a huge difference and prevent lots of work injuries. Your chair should be comfortable and adjustable, and ideally so should your desk. There are many different ergonomic chair designs in the marketplace, all of them designed with work safety in mind, and there’s no reason to spend eight hours a day in a chair that’s uncomfortable. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it can create all kinds of health problems, so talk to your boss if you need a new chair. And don’t forget the computer monitor – if you’re not using an LCD flat panel, then radiation is a concern. You’ll need to be at least a couple of feet away from the monitor at all times. If that’s not possible, talk to your boss about investing in a see through radiation shield that fits over the monitor.
