Music Guidelines to Remain Focused On Driving
Here are some guidelines to keep you from being a distracted driver who puts themselves and others at risk of serious injury or death. When you’re driving in a car, safety should always be your top priority. You should always be thinking about it and looking out for risks, being aware of changing driving conditions and keeping an eye on other drivers. It’s a full time job, and you can’t ever afford to let up and take your mind off of it. While you’re driving, you should be driving and that’s it. Listening to the radio or sound system at a moderate volume is fine, but if you’re in heavy traffic or extremely hazardous road conditions, you should shut it completely off. At times like these your full attention should be on car safety. The sound system should never be so loud that you can’t hear what’s going on outside the car. If you use a cassette or compact disc player you should never attempt to change tapes or discs while driving. Do it while you’re stopped at a traffic light, or if you have a passenger have them do it. If a tape or disc should happen to fall on the floor, never attempt to retrieve it until you’re stopped and away from traffic. That’s extremely unsafe, and many, many people have been killed while reaching for a cassette tape.
